Spring League Schedules/ONTFL Milestone
May 12thSpring league schedules have been sent to team managers (great work Barry Lauzon!!), however, I'm going to hold off on posting them while extra eyes look for errors. Hopefully we're error free in that regard, and that everyone has a great season!
This Wednesday marks a historic event as one of our longest running teams, the Ambulance Chasers, will play their 750th touch football game this Wednesday, 7:25pm, at Sir Guy Carelton. A side note, their manger, Rick Kraft, was the first person to be awarded with the Ross Angus Award at last year`s banquet, which pays tribute to unsung heroes of any football team, the manager. Well deserved Rick!!!

2013 Registration Updated
Mar 31stHey all, we've updated our registration page to reflect the upcoming season. There are very minor changes taking place, as I want to keep things as smooth as possible during our transition. As I take over the books and learn the budget, I'm keeping costs near identical. There were some inconsistencies, but those have been rememdied in our registration page.
The next time we raise our league fees, which will probably be in 2014, it will only be implemented to raise the pay of our referees.For any questions and concerns, I can always be reached via email (preference) or text/phone, see below.

Youth Football Opportunity
Mar 31stOur friends at the Canadian Football Institute (CFI) are bringing the NFL Youth Flag Football Program to the Ottawa area starting this Spring (May 25th 2013). This is a non-competitive league and is all about the kids getting ACTIVE, PARTICIPATING (everyone plays every position) and most importantly having FUN while learning the game of football. We are very excited about the possibilities of this program and what it could mean for football in the area.

Indoor Second Session/Site Redesign
Feb 4thHey all, sorry for taking so long with putting out availabilities for our second session, however, with random dome closures for repairs, and web difficulties, circumstance has graced us again. Please see times below and look forward to an overdue ONTFL site redesign.
Please note that times may share dates with the current schedule, however, with limited dates due to delays, we have no choice but to blend our sessions slightly. Sunday and Monday start times will begin later as we wrap up existing seasons, but will be adjusted early in March.
Wednesday and Thursday nights are designated as coed and our most competitive divisions respectively, however, Sunday and Monday nights, depending on the interest, can have levels adjusted.
At the moment we don't have enough interest for an all female division, but we are always open to making room.

Snow Tournament Info
Jan 24I just wanted to clear up rumours surrounding our snow tournament . It's been a few years since we ran Superbowl Saturday, the warmth of our popular indoor sessions has killed interest, however, there are still options out there.
Our friends at the Bytown league are once again hosting their "Blizzard Bowl" on February 9th. For those who don't know, Bytown has been in operation for decades, a more eastern destination that has long been filled with several ONTFL players, and vice versa.

Tonight's Games Cancelled (Jan7)
Jan 7The Dome was hoping that replacement parts for their lights were going to arrive today, as they were damaged over the holidays, but they have not so games tonight will have to be cancelled.
I fully expect Wednesday games to be on, but we'll definitely be in touch with teams otherwise.
Sunday (Jan 6) Games Cancelled Monday on Standby
Jan 4The Dome sustained damage over the holidays, and will be closed this Sun Jan 6, just got word of it. Monday games are on stand by, we'll know in the morning.

Injured Player Update & Schedules Info
Nov 12Last week a player in coed (Eve) had a heart attack on the field, however, thanks to Melissa Diogardi and Alex Tousignant, she is recovering at the heart institute. If not for their efforts to maintain a pulse, Eve would have died on the field. There aren't enough words to thank them, and everyone else who chipped in that night. EMT's that arrived on the scene were incredible too! They never gave up while they worked on Eve.
We're planning on holding a group CPR course in the near future, so stay tuned for that! The last few days have been such a traumatic time for all of us involved that night, I think taking a CPR course together will be great therapy! Everyone and anyone will be included of course, strong skills to own!
Indoor schedules are being retooled a little, as late second entries are being included. I'm still trouble shooting my computer issues as well, but expect updates in the coming days. Managers have available schedules, so be sure to check with them!

Indoor Cancellation From Wednesday Nov 7
Nov 8I apologise to anyone who wasn't notified about the field cancellations for last night. Since our banquet on the weekend, I have had issues with my computers, and could not update the site with a message, just as I haven't been able to upload the schedules. Barry, however, put the message out to managers.
One of our coed players (I will just say Eve for now) fell into what is believed to be cardiac arrest. Thankfully heroine/hero nurses (Alexanne & Melissa notably) were on hand to apply CPR until EMT's arrived. Alexanne Tousignant, took control of an incredibly difficult and traumatic situation.
Because of Alex, and a group effort, she’s at least stable, but in critical condition. I will update the site on her progress when the time is right.
On Behalf of the ONTFL and Algonquin College, we wish Eve a complete and speedy recovery. Countless prayers and thoughts are with her and her family.

Saturday November 3rd, dress remains semi-formal.

It will be buffet style and the tickets will be $30.00 each. The food promises to be much better!
The league will run its own bar so beverages will be more affordable
(example a beer $2.50 and coolers $3.00.) We could have gone with $27 tickets, however, they would run their own bar and drinks would have been far more expensive, as in $5.50 a beer.
Even if your team has not won any awards you are invited! It's always an outstanding evening and a wonderful way to celebrate another ONTFL season!

Oct 21Our meeting today to finalize details has been moved to this Wednesday at noon. I'm 99% certain that the banquet will take place on Nov the 3rd at the Palace (Cleopatra) but until I sign the contract, I do not want to sell tickets.
We'll be having two picture taking evenings prior to the banquet, with the first taking place this Wednesday, 7pm, with the location tbd. Stay tuned to the website! Award winners can also email their pictures using my email address below.

Fall Classic Final Scores
Oct 21Another fun Fall Classic is in the books and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who made it happen. Ron Sorrel helped me put together the draw. Sharon and Mike Charon were their usual helpful selves with the bbq, clean up, and all things invloving fun. Ray St Louis helped with set up/take down duties. Hopefully I'm not missing anyone , as it's impossible to thank all of the extra hands. I'd also like to thank everyone who stepped up to fill in for our missing team, ensuring everyone had opponents.
It was blast to organize and execute, thank you all for participating!

Results!Congratulations to Working On It for taking the Coed Classic A crown. Our B championship was interrupted by injury, however, with everyone chipping in to play on the Bullets, which lost players the night before, there was plenty of action for anyone who wanted it!

Women's Field Change
June 6thThere's an issue with our permits at Brewer, so we're moving all Brewer games to Merivale HS until further notice. We'll be using the main field with the stands. Ed is over at Brewer guiding stragglers, in case some weren't notified from their managers. We'll delay games slightly if players are a little late, at least we have enough light at this time of the year.
I'm really sorry for the hassle ladies, at least the referees are notified!

2012 Referee Guarantee
May 21We've had a blown assignment at Woodroofe tonight for the first game. While I figure out what the error is, this is a good opportunity to remind teams that we are guaranteeing two officials per game all season for our men's and women's league play. Should only one official show up, or the second arrives late in the second half of the game, both teams will be reimbursed the cost of the official for the conests missed.
