The game belongs to the players and the coaches. We can help by not being overly technical in making calls. Some of the younger referees coming up have a tendency to be technicians. The Ottawa-Nepean Touch Football Officials Association was formed in 1976. Over the years the association has grown in size and numbers in order to handle the high demand for certified officials. In 1999 our association membership reached (92) officials. The approximate make up consists of 50% non player officials, 30% player officials, and 20% part time officials.

Today our officials association is responsible for handling over 1000 league games which consists of Spring League (May-June), Summer/Regular Season (July-Aug-Sept), Indoors (Nov-Jan-Feb). We are also responsible for Junior High School and regular High School (April-May-June). Local school tournaments as well as many league oriented ones also keep us busy throughout the year.

In addition to the above mentioned local games and tournaments, we are busy sending our trained officials to other touch events such as the (5) Major Trillium Tournaments in Burlington, Hamilton, Kingston, Ottawa and Unionville. On the Labor Day weekend a number of our officials are off to the Trillium Cup (Ontario Provincials) and the same applies to the Tournament of Champions (National Championships) on the Thanksgiving weekend. If that's not enough were off to Almonte and Rockland on a regular basis and other touch communities when called upon. Yes were busy!
