Men’s Spring League (Tentative May 15 start)

If all goes well weather wise, we’re looking to start our Spring League in mid May. The season is 6 games long, plus playoffs. Teams will play twice a week until playoffs begin. Divisions will play on a Tuesday/Thursday, or Monday/Wednesday schedule. The season should wrap up by mid June. Teams that play in Spring and Summer leagues, will get a discount for the summer seassion.

Men’s Summer League (Late June start)

Our summer season will begin once our Spring League concludes. We offer several divisions of play, ranging from competitive to recreational, and everything In between. Games are played during the week until playoffs. Depending on field availability, there could be the occasional weekend regular season game once light is restricted in the fall. The season will run until late September, or the first weekend in October.

Women’s (Tentative May 28 start)

We anticipate having three divisions of play for women’s football again. Our A/B ranks will play either Monday’s or Wednesday’s, with our C division playing on either Tuesday’s or Thursday’s. Once we run out of light, expect at least one regular season game to be played on the weekend. Playoffs will also take place on the weekends. The season will end in its usual late September, or early October timeframe.

Coed (Tentative May 27 start)

Our Coed League plays on Sunday’s during the summer, beginning at either 5:30pm, or 6pm. We play on a full field, 7 on 7, with a minimum of 4 girls on the field at a time per team. We use this ratio to create a safer environment, and to help ensure that female participation is strong.

We’re incredibly excited for the snow to melt and to get back to our natural habitat, a grass field. We hope to see you all soon!

ONTFL President, Gordie Laverty.

Our father, Ed Laverty, was a man who was deeply passionate about sports and people. "The Godfather of Touch Football" lead the Ottawa Nepean Touch Football League to its 50th year of operation. He also presided over Touch Football Ontario for nearly a decade and helped launch Touch Football Canada.

He was an exceptional athlete who excelled at hockey, broomball and of course touch football. While he was always a threat as a receiver and defender in his earlier days, he’s better known as the savvy quarterback who created the infamous and widely adopted “overload offense”.

He was a special man, who would give you the shirt off his back. He was always quick to lend a helping hand and extend an open door to whoever needed it. He was a jokester, famous for his one liners and a loyal friend.

He was a community builder who brought thousands of people together to form lasting friendships. His selfless efforts were acknowledged in 2014 when he was inducted into the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame.

Most importantly, he was a loving husband to our mom Trudy and a dedicated father to both of us.

He’s an irreplaceable "One of a Kind" humble man and he is already missed beyond measure.
